My art exhibition at Capers in West Seattle is nearly over! I’ll be there for the West Seattle Art Walk this Thursday and the paintings will be on display through September 30th. If you’re in Seattle I would love to see you on Thursday evening! Stop by and say hi and share this email with your friends.
If you can’t make it to the show, you can check out the new work in this post.
If there are any paintings that you’d like more information about please let me know. Feel free to email me to place a hold on a specific work of art — if it is still available when I pick up the work on October 1st I will be able to sell the painting to you directly.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Since I moved into my Seattle art studio in June I’ve been WAY more productive. I realized recently that I created THREE new painting collections this summer. THREE! I’ve never been in this much of a creative flow. NEVER. Having dedicated full days in a studio that is outside of my home has made a huge difference for me. I don’t get distracted and I’m able to get and stay in flow while I’m there, even when I get stuck.
Besides having truly dedicated uninterrupted studio time, another thing that has greatly improved my creativity and productivity is using Procreate on my iPad as a digital sketchbook. I cannot even describe how much incorporating this app has improved my studio practice. I’ve been able to test out color palettes and compositions before committing them to canvas or wood, and also use the app to try out different “fixes” for paintings in progress. It’s truly been a game changer for me.
The sketches and color palettes seen above are those that I worked on last week while I’ve been taking a short break from painting. I’m excited to see how they play out in new art!
WHAT’S NEXT
Tomorrow I’m back in my studio to get started on a new commission. You can read more about my commission process here. I’ll also be working on some new paintings that will be available through Seattle Art Source soon. And last but not least I’ll be part of a special online sale event with Sorelle Art Gallery from October 23-25. I’ve created six new paintings that will be available during the event and I’ll share some of them with you soon.
As always, be sure to get in touch if you have any questions about my art. Thank you for being here!
xo,
Melanie
