Issue No. 13: Notes From The Studio
The Monochromatic Collection is available at Casa di LaValle!
Hi!
I’ve been busy getting settled into my new apartment and my new art studio — I created a short reel for my first studio day and have been sharing little bits on Instagram. I jumped into completing my latest collaboration with Casa di LaValle right after I moved to get it ready to launch this month. And guess what? It’s here!
The Monochromatic Collection
Collaborations stretch my creativity in such great, unexpected ways.
When Cassandra and I first discussing the 2024 Monochromatic Collection I was a bit apprehensive. While the style referenced some of my earlier geometric cityscape work, I had never attempted to do an entire series where the color palette was the primary subject — especially in monochromatic hues!
I started working on the textural collection right before I left for France. While I was there I honed in on the colors we had chosen for the six-painting series — deep greens, yellow ochre, rich blues, and neutrals — and returned with plenty of inspiring images to help complete our collaboration.
I love the richness and depth of this creative exploration of color. Find links to all of the available paintings on my Partnerships + Collaborations page.
I hope that you enjoy the new collection! If you’re in Seattle and would like to see The Monochromatic Collection in person, you can visit Casa di LaValle on Instagram current shop hours.
Hope you’re having a great week!
xo,
Melanie

Love these, Melanie! You really captured the colors of France! I really like the way they look against the crisp white wall!
