Issue #3: Notes From The Studio
Hood River, Oregon, an upcoming art show, and my favorite birthday gift.
I’m barely making it in with this week’s letter! I haven’t decided on a regular day for sharing, just that I want to do it once a week. I’m working on giving myself more structure, but it’s slow going. A sliver of me is someone who thrives on more organization (Virgo Moon) and the rest of me is flipping her off (Sagittarius Sun, Gemini Rising). It’s going to take some time.
What I Feel Like Sharing
What I’m Working On This Week isn’t going to work for me as a weekly column. Structure Lady wants to lay it all out nicely, but Artist Lady isn’t having it. We truly have our battles.
Artist Lady felt like going over the week was too boring, especially when we’re often doing THE…SAME…THING every week. Fact: Being an artist can be very monotonous. Artist Lady wants to share bits and pieces of work in progress and inspiration, so we’re going to try that out.
I’ve completed the abstract landscape that I’ve been working on (Wintering, approximately 48H x 60W inches) and have submitted it for wall covering licensing consideration. Here’s my mock-up.
Hopefully, it will be a good fit for their collection! We’ll see.
Structure Lady is smirking at Artist Lady right now, who didn’t even realize she still wrote What I’m Working On This Week. See, Artist Lady? This wasn’t boring at all!
Next Thursday in Seattle
On Thursday, December 14th from 5-8pm I’ll be sharing my art in Studio 15 at The Building as part of the West Seattle Art Walk. My friend Dorothy Lemoult is hosting me and I look forward to meeting some of you in person at the event!
The paintings I’ve created in the second half of the year have textural elements that are difficult to convey online, so I’m thrilled to be able to bring this work IN PERSON to my Seattle collectors. If you’re in the Seattle area (or have friends here), please share this post with them. I hope to see some of you there.

What I’m Into This Week
- writes and this week she shared an honest, heartfelt post that describes how hard it can be to “make ends meet” when you work in a creative field with unpredictable income in an expensive American city. You can read it here.
I’m enjoying my subscription to À La Carte by
. I love learning about her creative process and seeing her mood boards and recommendations. This milk frother (affiliate link*) that my husband gave me for my birthday — I am OBSESSED with it. I use it every morning to make steamed milk and snowy foam for my coffee. I mean the froth is so frothy that my teenager said, “Your coffee looks stupid,” as he walked by. At least he spoke to me. Drew remembered how much I loved using the milk frother when we stayed at the Santa Monica Airbnb this summer and noted it for future gift-giving. I’m terrible at stuff like that. I rarely give gifts at all. Gifts stress me out — is that weird? Sigh.
Seascape Annandale in New Zealand. I saw it first on Kelly Behun’s Instagram and I’m in love.
Thanks for being here! Let me know if you’re planning on coming to my art event in West Seattle next week. I’d love to see you/meet you in person!

*I occasionally use affiliate links when I share things I love. This means if you decide to buy something from my link I will get a very small, usually minuscule, commission from it. I will ONLY share things that I ACTUALLY USE or TRULY DESIRE. This is not a shopping newsletter. Unless it becomes one? 🤷🏻♀️ But I’ll always tell you first.
